The site of ancient Carsulae is one of the most important archeological sites in Umbria. The site was largely abandoned in the 6th century, so its excavation has not been complicated by later building. It is set in a lovely landscape at the foot of the Monte Martani.
Carsulae is suggested as a destination in the page on drives from Terni. You can also reach it by bus from Terni, although this involves a short walk from the bus stop in Poggio Azzuano.
